well, i would embed the video but i am having trouble with it. man i wish i knew how to code. (pulls hair out) you can watch it over here on the good day LA site (scroll down a bit)

yesterday was definitely wild. kristin and i got to the fox studios and went straight to hair and makeup where i read over my talking points for our good day LA segment (yes, i am a nerd and printed talking points) and sat there telling myself it was going to be fine. i had just never done live TV before…actually i’ve barely done any TV. i kept thinking maybe i would swear, or fall or call the host the wrong name on accident. and if you watch the video i accidentally tell prom students to get together and make flower corsages and drink mimosas!! which i didn’t even realize i said until my boyfriend texted me “awesome job babe, you killed it! except for the part where you encouraged underage drinking! ha!” i had to just laugh that one off.

turns out live TV goes so so fast. it was over in what felt like 4 seconds. (you can watch the video segment here!) it went nothing like i thought, but turned out just fine luckily. i just wish i hadn’t spent all that time reading those talking points, ha! hopefully each one of these gets a little easier…

so what are we making? flower accesorries that kristin will be providing as party favors at our splendid event at the grove (read about it here!) this saturday. if you live in LA, you should definitely stop by. it’s going to be a blast. make sure to RSVP to [email protected]

(my dress is from splendid, there is a similar one available here)

so i gave this whole hosting thing a shot! i was asked by QVC to host a few segments on trends for their inspired style show (watch our little teaser above)…where we would walk around the grove in LA and talk about a few of the fashion trends we saw happening around us. naturally, i brought my funny friend jen with me to ease my nerves. despite me thinking “oh man i don’t know what i am going to say here,” when he was pointing at me saying “3, 2, and action.” it went pretty well! after a few takes i felt comfortable in front of the camera and just rolled with it. overall, a really fun day!

watch the segments on QVC at these times (i haven’t even seen them yet!) mom, you might want to set your DVR for these…

thanks for having me QVC, let’s do it again someday.

STYLE / 89

last week i brought 7 of my friends (and they all happen to contribute to designlovefest too!) on a road trip to palm springs for a relaxing couple of days at the parker hotel. it really is one of my favorite places on earth, so it was special to get to share it with these ladies.

we spent tons of time just lounging around, taking pictures, spa time, eating the best breakfasts at norma’s and girl talkin over cocktails by the pool. i made a little video (with my phone) to document the trip for us…watch below if you’d like! (ps i edited it all in photoshop, which is what we teach in our video blogshops!)

heather took some photos of jesse and i in these wild pants from a new company called J + CO. two different color legs? i think i’m sold.

our little flower child, jesse…

the grounds at the parker hotel are like a big green maze to run through.

the neutral pancho i am wearing is from free people. they have a nice selection of them here. and the pink one that jesse is wearing is vintage from shareen vintage.

with a bunch of photographers there, it was bound to turn into a photo extravaganza. it was really nice to just be able to shoot whatever we wanted. no constraints or pressure. just creativity. and learning from each other.

obsessed with my kate spade saturday circle sunnies. have you guys been to palm springs? it’s pretty magical, huh? we ate dinner one night at birba – great pizza and the beet salad was incredible. a must try when you go there.

it sure feels great to have the sun shining again…

alright, here is our final dream job! the circus performer. i have always been completely obsessed with those feathered headdresses and when i saw this one at the fitting my jaw hit the floor.

and let me tell you about this location! we took a drive out to riverside and shot this at a legit circus prop house. i actually think the couple that owns this place knows how to swallow fire. it was sensory overload. a magical parking lot of authentic circus. (watch the video below to see!)

the goal for the beauty portion was big hair, soft makeup with some shimmer. i thought the subtle glow under the eyes was a nice touch.

i swear each time we team up with anthropologie for an event it’s more fun than the last. we created this valentine’s paper locket DIY that we shared in the magazine and right here in our make it column, and last week we taught a bunch of new friends how to customize their own at the anthro store at the americana at brand here in los angeles.

so many cute faces showed up, and they weren’t kidding around on the crafting.

natalie and i loved interacting with fellow DIY fiends. those latte bowls work perfect for cereal but also to display all of our supplies. they have a lot of great colors.

the team at anthro always has the best treats for us. i mean, champagne and rasberries? okay!

we had all our crafters bring photos from home to personalize their lockets.

natalie was happy to give detailed instructions to a cute little creator who came out to play.

the craftmaster wore this stunning lace-back dress.

there were some awesomely personalized photos and sayings…i know we can all relate to that statement from time to time.

i want to thank everyone who came out and helped bring make it to life! i hope to do another workshop soon!

see a little clip of the action here…thanks wade for capturing that!
