summer sales | designlovefest

so many things on sale right now, it’s hard to navigate. i very rarely buy anything full price so for me sale season is the time to stock up. below are 15 sale items, everything from madewell to ace & jig to eileen fisher that are worth a look and maybe a purchase. one thing to remember with sales is to think outside of the seasonal box, when you’re building a wardrobe of pieces you love you might pick up a pair of boots you love in the spring and a swimsuit in the winter. it’s hard to shop for something super specific and when you’re on a time crunch, so instead of waiting until you have a party and stressing to find a dress, build a closet of things you love and can reach for anytime the occasion arises!

Ganni wide- leg pants $70: a flattering shape in a fun summer color. ganni is always a favorite of mine!

Madewell striped tee $33: few things are more classic than a striped tee, love this boxy one from madewell.

Gold-plated earrings $80: i’m in love with these fun earrings, such a statement and you can pair with anything!

Loeffler Randall wedge $118: a very cool color combo and these shoes are very comfortable with a wedge!

Zara dress $50: the little bow detail is on the back of this dress is the perfect touch on a simple and easy to wear piece.

Square toe heels $285: gingham never goes out of style!

Organic cotton sweater $118: i ordered this sweater, a cotton sweater on a chilly summer evening and in this punch of pink is a perfect match.

Brass earrings $104: simple earrings that will go with anything.

Alpaca scarf $70: totally not the right season but worth buying now and tucking away, alpaca is so soft!

Mansur Gavriel pump $285: they’re called the ballerina pump and they live up to their name!

Isabel Marant striped shirt $188: a shirt for all seasons, would be cute with a pair of shorts or in the fall with jeans.

Clare V. red basket $112: we’re big clare v. fans around here and you can beat the price on this little red bag.

CANO earrings $105: a new to me brand, i love the clean lines of these earrings. lots of earrings in this round up but they are such a fun thing to mix up your current wardrobe!

Ace & Jig pants $208: bri has these pants and she loves them and i love them on her. so many pretty prints!

Annie Costello Brown circle hoops $56: this is an insanely good price, i love her earrings!

we’ve heard the timeless tale of a classic white button down shirt but i think the shirt dress is just as classic and versatile. it’s that chic summer option you can wear with sneakers, sandals, unbuttoned over shorts, as a swim cover up, etc, etc. especially a fan of one that are 100% cotton as they are breathable and easy to wash. in love with this one with the delicate lace detailing on the hem.

here are a few shop-able options, if you’re looking to add one to your wardrobe…

Gauze shirtdress – this option is in gauze which makes it the perfect hot weather dress. the clean line of the collar give a usually very casual fabric a more sophisticated feel

Everlane cotton shirtdress – this one looks super short, but remember the model is 5’11”, a very classic cut with a nice crisp look to it.

Mohawk shirt dress – such a pretty option, i love the built in belt and the hem detailing. it’s nice in black too.

Shirt coverup dress – cute over a swimsuit or with a pair of denim shorts under it.

Lou&Grey shirtdress – on double sale right now, i like the contrasting stitch.

COS organic shirt dress – COS does a classic well and this one is a great short sleeved option.

bri and i have been working together for 6 + years and we’ll often remark to each other how little we’ve influenced each others style. we have some similar items but for the most part we don’t gravitate towards the same things (with the exception of this ace&jig dress that she influenced me to buy, we both love a good wrap dress). we can both easily pick out what the other person would wear, saying “that’s so you”, or “this totally made me think of you”. she tends to be much more colorful and bohemian and i tend to wear more neutrals and clean lines. she almost never wears denim while i’ll wear jeans a couple times a week and often a denim jacket (this is my current fave). she loves a good layered look and i tend to wear more fitted things. i like sleeveless, she really doesn’t. we both dig a long dress, but mine would be more 90’s, hers more 70’s.

we always appreciate what the other person is wearing but we almost never borrow or share clothes which i think is funny considering how close we are and how much time we spend together. i want to start adding in some styled posts that are a breakdown of our individual style, things we gravitate towards, what we’d each wear to a specific location, party, event, even a workout class. i find personal style really interesting, i love how some people can totally pull off specific looks or how seeing something can make you immediately think of that person in your life who’d wear it. and i also love seeing how two people would style the same piece so hopefully we’ll have some of those posts coming soon too! do you feel like you have a specific personal style you stick to her do you wear anything and everything?   – joanie

lacausa | designlovefest

one of our favorite brands is having a massive spring sale and we’re here for it! LACAUSA is an LA based brand that both bri and i wear on the regular. ethically made in los angeles, they have effortlessly cool pieces (like this easy striped dress i’m buying!). great basics, like my all time favorite tee shirt, and amazing jumpsuits, easy dresses, etc. one of those places, once you order once, you’ll be hooked! they are doing 40% off all their sale pieces with code” SPRINGCLEAN”. they usually do this once a year and i make sure to stock up on my favorites! act fast, things sell out very quickly!

white linen top – i own this top and love it. linen/cotton blends are some of my favorite fabrics and it looks so clean with jenas!

baby ribbed tee – dream tee! anything ribbed and in this pale pink combo with a subtle v-neck is everything good!

sage green top  – slightly boxy, dusty sage green and super easy to wear!

bell sleeved sweater – cotton cashmere blend, perfect summer sweater after a day at the beach or over a long dress.

Stella trouser – bri and i both have these, a great fit. true to size.

floral print wrap dress – i have the pantsuit version of this dress and get so much use out of it. this wrap dress is the perfect transition piece into spring and summer!

striped tee – a classic striped tee is a great wardrobe staple. i wear this one at least once a week!

cropped jacket – my friend merritt was wearing this a couple of weekends ago and it a great look, a little retro but sophisticated.

frank tee – never enough frank tees in my closet!

love these easy breezy pants and also the all white look below!

handbag round up | designlovefest

i’ve been carrying the same Cuero and Mor crossbody bag for years. i love it but it’s getting pretty worn in and feels like it’s time for an update. i’m the kinda girl that buys one bag and carries it until it’s worn to death. i don’t like having multiple bags and swapping things back and forth. i inevitably forget something in one of my other bags and it ends up just being a hassle. since i carry it with everything it has to be a versatile color and also a shape that can go from day to night. here is a round up of bags that i have my eye on, everything from target to Gucci (i like to look at round ups and see if you can pick the most and least expensive items, hard to do!).  – joanie

do you have a handbag you love? i’m all ears!
