everlane | designlovefest

the most important part of your wardrobe are the basic items, the pieces that you can wear almost every day, layered or paired with jeans, tucked into skirts, tied over dresses, with a pair of shorts, etc. you can’t build an outfit without them and even though they aren’t always the most fun thing to spend money on, they usually give you the most bang for your buck. one of my all time favorite places to buy great basics is everlane. i love their transparency and i also love their clothing. the designs are thoughtful, good fabrics, nice quality and colors. a few great looking staples that they currently have in stock below! – joanie

cotton popover shirt  $55 – very into these striped cotton button ups for summer, tied at the waist, over a swimsuit, with jeans, the options are endless!

black cami $68 – a cami is a great piece to add to your wardrobe, it’s perfect under a blazer during the day and then on it’s own in the evening. i love them tucked into full waisted 50’s style skirts.

silk shirt $98 – this has such a classic feeling, i love a slightly oversized silk button down, buttoned all the way to the top and tucked in or with a few buttons undone and a pretty lace bra peaking out.

utility jacket $78 – i heavily rotate between a utility type jacket like this and a denim jacket. they’re great day or night.

bodysuit $30 – if you haven’t tried a bodysuit, now is the time! they are the perfect layering piece as they don’t ride up. i love them with tighter fitting skirts as you don’t get that tucked in line.

oversized sweatshirt  $45 – i love slightly oversized sweatshirts. they give me the feeling of vintage Champion from the 70’s.

cotton cropped tee $15 – a little boxy and a little cropped. a great white tee to pair with high waisted denim.

french terry crew $38 – loving all the soft colors this crewneck sweatshirt comes in.

suede slingback  $155 – if you feels tuck between sandals and sneakers every day, throw these into the mix. ladylike and simple!

summer wrap dress | designlovefest

last week i shared my new favorite black jeans and this week i’m sharing my current dress obsession by my fav LA based lacausa clothing. i’ve worn it three out of the last four days, to the farmer’s market, to see the robin williams doc (he was my favorite!), and to get bagels and coffee. i’m always looking for effortless dresses, something you can pull on, wear all day and never feel uncomfortable and this one fits the bill. i’m normally cautions when it comes to wrap dresses because they often don’t wrap far enough and can blow open when you’re walking but this one ties all the way around and has adjustable straps which makes it work for lots of bodies. plus, the print makes me feel like i’m on vacation in the south of italy, win/win. i have the small but probably could have gone down to an XS, so I’d say if you between sizes, size down! i wear mine with this madewell bralette, which i highly recommend. it’s really comfortable and i wear it all the time. – joanie

madewell sale | designlovefest

i know i just did a post on madewell, but they are now having 30% off additional on sale items with code bigmood so i thought i’d do a quick round up. their sale on sale is my favorite time to stock up but be quick because stuff sells out fast (like this cute little mini skirt and the cutest jumpsuit above that is sold out in my size) – joanie

a friendly note to say that i bought these jeans and they arrived yesterday and they are great! i’m usually a 26 in brands like a madewell and j.crew but i sized up to a 27 in these and they fit like they do on the model, just a tiny bit loose through the waist, hip and thigh which is exactly how i wanted them to fit! perfect summer jean as i don’t like to wear skin tight denim when it’s hot out. and they are $100 which is a steal for J.Brand denim!  – joanie

madewell | designlovefest

it’s going to be over 100 degrees this weekend which means the summer heat has finally landed in california! i’m reaching for easy, breezy dresses and i’m looking to stock my wardrobe with more options like that to get me through the summer months. madewell is always a go to for me and i rounded up a few pieces that seem perfect for this heat! – joanie

yellow side-tie dress $88 – the sweetest yellow mini dress. love how structured it is, feels very 60’s.

daisy mini skirt  $88 – a super lightweight mini skirt to wear with all your favorite t-shirts.

apron tie-waist dress $145 – shoulder bearing, soft and feminine.

wrap-front romper $148 – rompers are great for more active summer adventures that might not be too dress friendly.

apron mini dress $118 – a crisscross back and a simple black + white stripe makes this super easy to wear and dress up or down.

eyelet top $68 – you can never go wrong with eyelet in the summer. and this one gives you lots of breathing room.

yellow silk dress $150 – a sweet, almost 40’s inspired dress, love the sleeve detail and simple pattern.

knit pencil skirt $60 – i dig this whole matching set. easy to wear, simple and fun.

silk slip dress $150 – nothing sexier or easier to wear than a simple slip dress. love this peachy hue!
