2016 seemed to be the year of the statement earring and we don’t think it’s going away anytime soon. we wanted to highlight a few of our favorites and some inspiration images to inspire. earrings are the perfect addition to a casual daytime look and can complete an evening ensemble.
they class up an ordinary ponytail and make us want to wear our hair piled on top of our head in a bun just to show them off. one word of caution though, make sure they aren’t too heavy or you’ll surely be taking them off before the day is through.
thoughts?! into it??
when i make my christmas list i try and focus on items that i wouldn’t naturally buy for myself but that would get a lot of use in my daily life. a mix of clothing, kitchen, health, and beauty. since my apartment is really small i have to be super careful about what i ask for as there is no room for unneeded extras! – joanie
shop joanie’s wishlist: 1. Cuero &Mor Crossbody bag in cognac $395: an everyday bag in a color that will go with everything but isn’t black or brown. 2. balancing face oil $68: i love oils as they feel extra hydrating and leave you dewy and this one is all natural, too! 3. Drift Away coffee subscription – never run out of beans again! i also like that you can rate how you felt about your beans so they’ll keep refining what they send you. 4. turkish coffee pot $24: because it’s the perfect thing to serve at brunch or sip on the weekends – strong and sweet! 5. cross linen apron $80: it’s both beautiful and practical.
6. metallic silver travel case set $125: so that i don’t need to travel with my toiletries in plastic bags anymore! 7. Annie Costello Brown statement earrings $219: i have them in gold but i’d like them in silver too, please! 8. The Nordic Cookbook $36: his chef’s table episode was fascinating and i think his book would be, too. 9. a woven bathmat $62: this fits under beautiful and practical and i’m tired of the one i have. 10. Monrow black t-shirt $58: i have this shirt in white and it’s my favorite. 11. H&M suede chelsea boot $70: the perfect mix of black and brown. i’d wear these boots into the ground!
i’ve been into vintage, thrifting and shopping estate sales for as long as i can remember. there is a certain thrill of finding a unique piece at a reasonable price that has a history to it. in los angeles many of the antique, vintage stores and estate sales get picked over really quickly. there are a lot of people looking for one of a kind pieces and it can get competitive. that’s why i absolutely love the site everything but the house (EBTH). it’s a curation of estate sales from all over the country and all of the bidding starts at $1. it doesn’t matter the item or the value, it always starts at $1. which is unheard of in the estate sale world. i purchased the stunning vintage yellow umbrella that i’m holding in these images below and i couldn’t love it more. i’ve rounded up some of my current favorites below from sales that are live now that you can bid on yourself!
when they say everything but the house they really mean it, cars, furniture, paintings, pans, rugs, you name it. one thing i will note is that i recommend getting a shipping quote by entering your zip code on the items page before bidding. they also list the sales by city so if you’re looking for larger items, selecting cities you can pick up from would save you money!

FALL! YES! FINALLY! you have no idea how excited i am for this weather and the switch up in our wardrobe. it’s no secret that i’m a lover of the 70’s and currently obsessed with wide legged denim, flowing dresses, and jean jackets with patches on them. i added a few new pieces to my wardrobe from Farfetch to take me through the change of season and i’ll be sharing a few of my favorites with you today.
the piece that i keep wearing over and over is this denim jacket. it’s perfectly structured without feeling too boxy and i love the detail of the embroidery. i purchased it from Farfetch (unfortunately, it’s sold out there but still available on the levi site, here). i paired it with this dress from shop doen. (and the slides are from mansur gavriel, they are forest green and go with everything)
i also got this re/done denim skirt from Farfetch which is a great day time piece and something that is only going to get better with wear. i like when clothes have a lived in feeling…
