i’ve been drawn lately to more feminine style, in my mind it feels like ballerina style, whatever that means. soft colors, slouchy sweaters, fitted body suits layered under slip dresses, delicate flats, hair in a top knot with a few pieces falling down. i don’t mean the style of the 50’s that is often seen as uber feminine with fitted waists and big skirts. this version is comfortable and simple. i was probably inspired after reading the misty copeland home feature in architectural digest, she’s such a beauty and incredibly talented, it was a treat to see inside her home. – joanie p.s. all images are linked with credit to the source

i’m very much into the new lunya collection they launched. they are a local southern california brand that makes such glamours and beautiful lounge wear. several of their pieces are on my wish list, they’d make a perfect gift for a new mom or lady in your life who needs something pretty to wear at home.

lacausa discount code | designlovefest

our friends at lacausa gave us a special 30% off discount code to share with y’all (it’s good sitewide, code is DESIGNLOVE30). they are are go-to for every day basics (they make the best tanks and tees) and have incredible quality and style. they are female founded and committed to ethical manufacturing, fair wages, care for the environment and giving back to organizations they believe in. these days, it’s more important than ever to care about where we spend our hard earned money, and they are a great company to support!

i live in my alma slip dress during the summer, i normally wear a small but got mine in a medium, i love the oversized lounge-y look of it and it looks great with a sweater over top for the cooler days like how i’m wearing it below. they have a fun instagram too if you want to follow along with them there.

bri has been wearing this tie dye t-shirt. order your normal size, it’s cut to be oversized all ready! this henley fits exactly how you’d want it to fit, and is so comfy. i wear it with a fitted pair of denim. i’m always on the hunt for ribbed pieces, and i love this tank, especially in this pink hue. and their maya tank is a classic wear with anything (including a bra if needed!) option. bri and i both have the lola trousers in the panna cotta color (i also love the green color!) and they are the best.  they run true to size, i’m wearing a size 4 in the photo below. it’s really hard to find pleated pants that still feel modern and not like a school uniform and these do the trick.

bri and i are both big fans of los angeles jewelry designer annie costello brown. i’ve received several pairs of her earrings for birthdays and christmas over the years and i love them. i noticed that all of the styles on need supply are currently on sale. they make a great gift for yourself or someone you love. and surprisingly, they aren’t heavy! they are perfect for a night out or i can wear them all day without pain. here are some favorites. i really love the blue and green ones. i wear a lot of neutrals so they really pop. but the silver and gold is also really timeless and versatile. the earrings above are available here in silver.

ace & jig | designlovefest

we are long time fans of ace & jig and there is so much to love about their latest collection. the colors, textiles, styling, models, it’s all so beautiful. i’m in love with this duster! they are an incredible female owned, ethically sourced and made company to support if you have the means. and if not, you can get joy just from looking at their colorful instagram. they are currently offering 15% off site wide with code ACEANDJIGJOY. – joanie

this is something so chic about a duster, and they are extremely versatile. i’ve drawn to cozy layers right now as we all stay inside and this is the perfect housecoat.

you know i have a weakness for madewell and my sister alerted me to their current 40% off sale. i really don’t buy anything from them unless it’s on sale and many of their items are sale on top of sale right now. below are some  favorites. i like to try to stick to buying more classic items from them like sweatshirts, button ups, perfectly lightweight cardigans, these pleated linen shorts, etc. they also have some fun 90’s feeling pieces right now like this wrap dress and top in the prettiest floral print

plaid ruffle top – this top feels a little like doen. the plaid feels fresh as it’s in summer colors, a nice departure for spring and summer.

cardigan sweater – cardigans are my go-to summer outerwear. you can easily pack them in your beach bag and throw them on over your swimsuit or sundress as the sun dips. i also love this one.

pleated linen shorts – i love how classic these pleat front linen shorts are, perfect paired with a swimsuit top to make it feel modern.

wrap top in daisy print – i eyed this top when it came out. i think the print is charming and i love a good wrap.

ribbed mini dress – this sweet ribbed dress in soft pink would be cool paired with a flat sandal or sneakers.

hemp sweatshirt – i highly recommend adding a classic grey sweatshirt to your closet if you don’t have one.
