there is so much to see and do in los angeles. i’ve lived here for 8 years and i still have places on my list that i need to visit. i took my team to the piñata district last friday. it’s pretty much as crazy as it sounds. rows of shops filled with piñatas hanging from the ceiling, aisles filled with colorful candy and loud party music.
there are a lot of not so great options, but you can definitely pick through the selection to find the gems. we got two fruits for $10 and $13.
i hear they also do custom piñatas as well!
i also really loved the colorful sticks that they had to break open the piñatas with. we left with the watermelon and pineapple, but there are TONS of options for a kid’s birthday party…and a few alcohol themed pinatas for adults too…
los angeles, you are wild and i love you! go to the piñata district here!

it had been forever since i updated my business cards. i stopped handing them out because the only correct information on them was the website, everything else had changed. so when cara of underwood letterpress moved into our office building downstairs, i knew we had to make this happen! i designed the cards for my two employees and myself and a few weeks later they were dropped on our desks…
i always liked how simple my cards were before. i don’t think cards need to be outrageous (although i have seen some pretty awesome outrageous ones!) i prefer just some nice details. thick paper, letterpress, colorful edges…
cara created our cards using black and hot pink ink and gold foil on two-ply cotton paper. we added gold foil edging on two and pink edging on one to make them extra special. they look especially great all stacked together.
see a little of her process below…

we needed a stiff drink after last weeks craziness, so ending with the mixology workshop worked out pretty perfectly. talmadge from pharmacie makes some of my all-time favorite cocktails and i couldn’t think of a better person to partner with for this class. we had a great time learning tips from a pro and mixing up delicious drinks…
p.s. our upcoming workshop schedule:
social media session 1 and session 2 (7 spots left total)
florals with moon canyon session 1 (sold out) and session 2 (5 spots left)
new classes announced soon, hear about them first from our mailing list
all of the students received bar kits that had all of the tools they’d need to mix up drinks at home. the little korboose provided the perfect hand screen printed napkins. and aheirloom provided the coolest maple muddlers for everyone.
we hosted the workshop at the fig house in highland park which was the ideal location for the event. its colorful decor and natural light made for the perfect afternoon setting.
roomforty blew everyone away with the most beautiful bar snacks. below are the bacon chips with apricot aoili and the scotch eggs…
they really nailed it with the presentation. i always appreciate people who are as ocd as i am when it comes to the details. how about these baked potato nachos?
everyone had fun snapping pictures on the colored couches and chairs. it really is a photo shoot dream in there. and of course, brittany captured the day perfectly, thanks lady!
tal taught everyone the history of cocktails and then more practical tips, like proportions, making infused simple syrups and what’s the best bang for your buck on booze for your bar.
and then he let everyone pick their alcohol choice and mix their own cocktails. he set out tons of different syrups and spirits and everyone had fun practicing their skills and experimenting with new flavors. my favorite was the tequila with chili infused simple syrup and lime juice.

i threw a dinner party last week with some of my closets girlfriends. it was a perfect evening with some of my favorite people, delicious food, and a little too much wine.
onefinestay let us host the party in a dream home for the evening, something i’d love to own one day, it was cozy and modern with the best backyard fireplace. the house had a great lived-in vibe, we all felt right at home as soon as we arrived. comfy couches, and lots of well placed art and accents.
our chef was daniel benhaim and his food was so pretty and insanely delicious.
we hosted the dinner with a company called kitchensurfing. they have locations all over the US but they’re new to LA. basically, they’re a dream come true for someone like me who loves to have people over but isn’t so much into the cooking a meal for everyone part. you can pick a chef from their list and they come to your home and prepare the meal in your kitchen, serve it and even do the dishes!
the pink campari cocktails were bright & strong. things got a little outta hand towards the end of the night….we ended up at a random beyonce tribute concert (HA!)
we kept everything really simple and fresh. laurel and wolf set the table and glasswing floral did a gorgeous job with the arrangements, such pretty combinations of pinks and earth tones. i love the chairs too!
i love how they displayed the appetizers on spoons, the beets with edible flowers were amazing.
it was one of those special evenings that are good for the soul.

the kitchen in my rental house isn’t really my style. but that’s cool, i can still dream about what my future kitchen will look like. i’m not really in a rush to buy a house…but someday! which one is your kitchen style??
a single girl’s kitchen dreams come true. pastels + tile…
i’ve pinned this kitchen on 5 different occasions on accident. i’m obsessed!…
oh i can SERIOUSLY get down with this one…those chairs, that light…
these bar stools sure make a statement…
all white + color. yeah, count me in on this one…
on a fancier note…and pretty unique with the bench, right?…
love the garden vibe happening here…
this is just pleasing to my eyes…
an all time favorite kitchen shot…
happy friday! -bri
