LET’S SHOP!

even though we sort of get to wear summer clothing all year round here in LA, i still enjoy picking out a few new pieces at the start of the season to freshen up my wardrobe. these days, i’m finding that i’m drawn to simple prints and nice fabrics. what are some of your summer wardrobe stables?

shop above: ASOS summer daisy dress (cute over a swimsuit and then for dinner with a shoe change), Top Shop black and cream scallop swimsuit (i love how classic this swimsuit is, reminds me of the 60′s) and Top Shop orange and white polka dot two piece (i’m into the flattering high-waisted bottoms).

shop above:  Need Supply beach tote with mat (packing up for the beach is a drag, i’d store all my beach necessities in here and keep it in my trunk),  ASOS wooden heeled sandals (paired with a denim mini), and Loeffler Randall metallic sandals.

shop above: OTTE dip dye dress (summer date night dress) and Need Supply homemade necklace (over a plain white tee).

LET’S SHOP, SHALL WE?

i’ve got summer on my mind! dreaming of long days at the beach, backyard bbq’s and weekend adventures. what’s on your summer wish list? here’s a few things that caught my eye…

shop above: ASOS polka dot romper, Swedish Hasbeens peep toe high sandals (i really want these!) and Birkenstocks in gold metallic (i’m into the thin straps on these).

shop above: Zara striped jute beach bag, The Outnet floral halter swimsuit (would be really pretty under an all white cover-up), Kore Swim black swimsuit (loving one piece bathing suits right now and this one is VERY flattering).

shop above: Gap dip dye t-shirt dress (for your little one, but wish it came in my size!), Karen Walker black sunglasses, and this J.Crew striped beach towel.

STYLE 113 / FREE PEOPLE

i have always loved free people’s clothing for its laid back bohemian appeal. the editorial spreads in their catalogs make me want to transport myself to a bungalow in the woods and wear free flowing dresses with bare-feet. we took an over-night trip to Topanga Canyon where heather captured some of my favorite looks from their current collection. it was the perfect location for the shoot: colorful houses, tree forts and all sorts of quirky details.

the looks we’re sharing today involve the same crochet dress in two colors. this dress is part of my ideal summer wardrobe, loose and easy. i took the white version with me on my recent trip to thailand and it was the perfect post-beach dress to throw on over my bathing suit. the first look we styled with an open cardigan sweater (that was so cozy it felt like a blanket!).

the versatility of this dress is also great, i am really into purchasing pieces that can be worn multiple ways. party dresses are fun but sometimes you just need to invest in pieces that are functional. for the second look, we layered the dress with an oversize long-sleeved tee. i’m normally hesitant about wearing too many shapeless items but somehow these pieces offered enough structure to make it work with all of the layering.
