when rent the runway asked me if i wanted to collaborate on a project recently, i was a little hesitant to be honest. i figured it was mostly geared towards really formal events and i didn’t see much need for it myself. but i was very wrong in that! i searched the site and found tons of outfits i could be renting for work events, weddings and parties. i even casual everyday looks that would be too expensive to buy at full price. so i decided to team up with them and show you a few of my favorite looks for any occasion, broken up into four posts this week and next week. i became a serious rent the runway fan during the process!
first i’m going to show you some of the casual cocktail dresses i was really into, and coming soon will be the fancier evening gowns. we wanted to stick with a 60’s-70’s vibe for the shoot, so we figured what would a better location be than this modern hollywood hills house rented from one fine stay…just check out that sweet pool!
i love this patterned neoprene dress with flared sleeves. it’s so unique and super comfortable. it’s both sophisticated and playful which is a hard combo to come by and something i’m particularly fond of, i don’t like to take fashion too seriously! kelly completed the look with a dark plum lipstick (which was a first for me) and i loved it! it’s an anastasia liquid lipstick in trust issues and would be nice on hand to mix up your standard going out make up look.
this rachel zoe black tuxedo dress was amazing. i felt like i was instantly more powerful when i put it on. haha. i paired it with my favorite pair of black patent leather heels and some messy waves.
the tuxedo dress is just the right amount of sexy, while still keeping that classy look. i actually rented this look after the shoot for a work trip i had coming up. it’s subtle and sexy at the same time and works for a range of occasions.
this lavendar elizabeth and james coat was one of my absolute favorite items on the site! i love the fact that i can rent a coat for a trip to the east coast, considering i don’t need to buy a ton of coats living in los angeles. i also love that i can wear it over cocktail dress. i hate having to wear a coat that ruins my look and this is the perfect solution.
i paired it with a chunky silver dannijo cuff and a vera wang embellished shift dress. the whole look had a very 60’s vibe and would be perfect for a wedding or cocktail party.
see more looks next week! which one would you wear of these 3?

reading this post by kira makes me want to run out the door to my local farmers market right now. a weekly visit there is such a great ritual and we second kira’s low key approach!
“The farmers market is the first place I head to on Saturday mornings. I roll out of bed, throw on something easy, don’t even worry about makeup, and stroll over to Prospect park, grabbing a coffee en route. Rain or shine, I love to rummage the beautiful seasonal produce and support my local farmers. The market feels like my weekly commune with nature and cooking dinner after work all week is a huge way I decompress. This month’s round up features essentials that contribute to a successful farmers market run.” - kira

i have wanted a vintage mercedes since high school! i’ve always loved the way they look more than any other new car. my grandma is still rocking her red convertible in her 70’s! so i finally decided to buy one, because…well, just because! i purchased it online the other day for a great deal. i haven’t officially SEEN it yet, but i am so excited for it to arrive!
as cheesy as it sounds, i can’t wait to rock the style that comes along with this cute car!

traveling in style is not an easy task, i’m not one to wear full on pajamas on a plane but i do want to be comfortable. i always have a few essentials on hand that make flying a bit more enjoyable and allow me to arrive at my destination refreshed and ready for adventure. i love this post kira put together with some of her favorite items, i will definitely be adding some of these in on my next trip!
“I’ve got a month long trip to Portugal coming up which I am so excited about, (If anyone has any great tips to share, I’d love to hear them! It’s my first time- we are going all over!) so, of course, travel is on my mind. Especially those long overnight flights. I went to college in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so the long haul is not new for me. After all these years of experience, I’ve dialed in my in-flight line up. Leggings are a must for sleeping and maximum comfort so to take my outfit up a notch (and not feel blah) I pair them with a chic, oversized sweater and booties. It’s all about disguising comfort as “understated chic.” Also I know I’m always cold on the plane. A blanket-like scarf and cozy socks keep me covered, literally. And then there are all of the other little accouterments that make the trip go more smoothly and comfortably. Explore the photos below for ideas! (And do let me know about those Portugal recommendations please…)” - kira

my hair routine is pretty simple, most of the time i like to keep it all natural but i always appreciate the way a different hair style can mix up someone’s look or take a basic outfit and make it a little more glamorous. i asked my friend ashley to come up with four different hair tutorials that could be created in less then four steps. (if i’m gonna do my hair, it’s gotta be easy!) take a peek and let me know if you try one, i’d love to see!
i think my favorite was the knotted ponytail. it’s so easy, it’s laughable.
