TRAVELING TO BERLIN / PART TWO

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

you can find part 1 of my berlin guide right here. today i wanted to show you the rest of the places i’d recommend visiting if you are in berlin! of course there are so many places we probably missed due to time, but i really loved a lot of the spots we were able to see.

jen, jesse, and i all had one day together in berlin before jen flew back to LA. we mostly stayed close to home, hit up the neighborhood coffee shop and then had dinner at lokal (which was delicious!)

jesse and i had brunch at aunt benny. love their minimalist decor and their food! the weather was very mixed in berlin. one minute it was warm enough to wear no coat or jacket, and the next we were all bundled up. very hard to predict.

concierge coffee was somewhere we visited 4 or 5 times. a short walk from our apartment and delicious coffee! they serve you out of this green window in a small charming alley.

we wanted to check out the store in the soho house berlin. we knew it would be pretty crazy expensive, but it was so beautiful to just wander through. they have a cute little beauty parlor, cafe and work tables. (you don’t have to be a member to go in the store)

TRAVELING TO BERLIN / PART 1

IMG_9243

hey guys! happy friday. the last stop on my european trip was berlin. i was there for about 2 weeks, and my two friends jen and jesse each spent a week with me there. we rented this apartment (see here) in kreuzberg and wandered around eating, drinking and all sorts of other things. this is part 1 of 2 of what we did while in berlin!

we were used to walking a lot or taking ubers in amsterdam, so when we got to berlin and realized it’s actually very big and ubers aren’t really available, we decided to take the train a lot. i really loved the train there, so easy and quick. definitely try it. berlin is interesting and very hard to explain actually. i wouldn’t say it’s a picturesque location, but it has a “cool” vibe almost everywhere we went. graffiti all over the streets, but gorgeous white interiors and minimalist decor. it’s full of contrast like that! it has a huge design focus, and you will always see people stylishly working on their laptops in the trendy cafes. and just wait till the next post when i talk about how i saw over 100 people naked!

BERLIN AIRBNB

IMG_8907

i’m back home now in my own bed (and thoroughly enjoying it!) but i sure did love our berlin apartment as well. white floors, wonderful light, minimal decor, and a cool berlin style.

(ps, see my two amsterdam airbnb rentals here and here)

the first time i visited berlin (see this very old post here) we stayed in the mitte area and really enjoyed it. this time we decided to explore the kreuzberg neighborhood and it was a totally different vibe. they compare it to the “hipster” areas like williamsburg in NY or silver lake in LA. i get sort of irritated with that term, but whatever. it sort of felt like echo park in LA, but even more grungy. lots of graffiti and a very mixed vibe of restaurants and shops. at first i wasn’t actually sure if i liked it that much. but it turns out it’s just one of those places you kind of have to explore and learn all the good spots. luckily right around the corner from us was some of my favorite restaurants of the trip (cocolo ramenchan thai market and concierge coffee) more on my neighborhood finds soon…

the apartment was quite dreamy and just my style. i loved the pink stripped down walls in the kitchen and the random design elements that you don’t normally see. the place was even better than in the photos on airbnb!

what do you think of the place? i don’t think it would be for everyone, but i thought it was so cool!

i loved working in the afternoons in this calming living room…and how bout those sticks on the floor? pretty genius actually.

i prefer to have a good mix of hotels and airbnb spots when i travel. seeing how people in other countries live is so fascinating!

BERLIN, HERE I COME

hey guys. i’m laying in bed dreading packing before we get on a plane to berlin. i’ve been gone over a month now, and my suitcase is starting to look like a frightening massacre. berlin is my last stop before i head home, i can’t believe the adventure is almost over. honestly, this trip has been the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. (and more on this flower field i visited soon!)

you all are the best when it comes to helping plan my trips. what’s to see in berlin? museums, restaurants, bars…do tell! i haven’t been to berlin in about 4 years now. we are staying in the kreuzberg area and i’m not familiar with the area. thanks so much!!

ps, i have TWO more spots in my berlin social media class!

i am headed to berlin from may 7th-may 18th! i decided while i’m up there i would teach one small social media workshop (sign up, here!) so i could meet some new people in a city i love so much! have you heard of freunde von freunden? it’s a super cool website that showcases real artists all over the world and how they live. so much interior design inspiration over there.

i will be teaching the social media workshop in their apartment, which you see here in these photos! it looks VERY beautiful and i can’t wait to see it in real life. they use the space for all sorts of creative gatherings, pop-ups, and workshops. i thought it would be perfect for my little workshop. i hope you can make it!
