our friends at lacausa gave us a special 30% off discount code to share with y’all (it’s good sitewide, code is DESIGNLOVE30). they are are go-to for every day basics (they make the best tanks and tees) and have incredible quality and style. they are female founded and committed to ethical manufacturing, fair wages, care for the environment and giving back to organizations they believe in. these days, it’s more important than ever to care about where we spend our hard earned money, and they are a great company to support!

i live in my alma slip dress during the summer, i normally wear a small but got mine in a medium, i love the oversized lounge-y look of it and it looks great with a sweater over top for the cooler days like how i’m wearing it below. they have a fun instagram too if you want to follow along with them there.

bri has been wearing this tie dye t-shirt. order your normal size, it’s cut to be oversized all ready! this henley fits exactly how you’d want it to fit, and is so comfy. i wear it with a fitted pair of denim. i’m always on the hunt for ribbed pieces, and i love this tank, especially in this pink hue. and their maya tank is a classic wear with anything (including a bra if needed!) option. bri and i both have the lola trousers in the panna cotta color (i also love the green color!) and they are the best.  they run true to size, i’m wearing a size 4 in the photo below. it’s really hard to find pleated pants that still feel modern and not like a school uniform and these do the trick.

what are you up to this weekend? tonight we’re trying out a new to me restaurant in downtown LA called nightshade and then tomorrow we’re having friends over for soup dumpling. i use this recipe and it’s so easy and delicious. i add a lot more garlic, ginger and soy to the meat than the recipe calls for and make adjustments as i taste along the way. when i’m not eating or entertaining i plan to cozy up with a good book, i just got the giver of stars from the library and i’m excited to dive in. hope you have a relaxing weekend! Xx, joanie

some fun things for a cozy winter weekend like these perfectly draped satin pj’s. also found these reasonable priced pillar candles from world market that come in several colors, i’m into the lavender one.

tunic sweater – love this deep green color and the fact that this is an elevated hoodie.

cozy slippers – cozy and over the top slippers that come in lots of fun colors.

cable knit sweater – i’m drawn to the contrasting stripes and the center design on this sweater. white + warren makes beautiful pieces.

tie dye hoodie – very into these matching sweat sets that LACAUSA is making. you might have seen bri wearing it a week or so ago on IG stories, very cute!

alpaca sweater – this sweater comes in lots of lovely colors. i love the soft rose one. alpaca is soft and has a beautiful visible texture.

striped pajama set – love a matching pj set and this striped one is working for me.

with thanksgiving being later this year it feels like christmas came faster than ever. here is our it’s not too late gift guide for any gift that you still need for your own list or to gift to others! 10 picks from me and 10 picks from joanie. it’s fun to see our selects side by side, i always gravitate towards color and home gifts and her towards neutrals and fashion. happy shopping! fall style guide | designlovefest

fall is right around the corner and we’re starting to see all sorts of cozy pieces popping up (lots of teddy fleeces this year!). i find myself not being ready for the change in season and at the same time being drawn to coats and sweaters.  mustard is a color i’m very into for fall this year (like this tiered stain dress for under $100!) and i think it’s one we’re going to be seeing more of, burnt orange as well (also, get ready for lots of tie dye happening over the next year!) and corduroy, prairie dresses and the 70’s suit is still sticking around. i’ve also noticed more quilted jackets popping up which i’m personally a big fan of, they can be seen as too grandma for some but i think with the right cut they are chic. here are a few fall favorites i’ve been eyeing, i tried to pull lots of options at reasonable price points…

lots of neutrals with a splash of orange! white boots are all the rage right now. neutrals can seem boring to buy but they pack a big punch, something you reach for over and over again like that turtleneck sweater (and it’s $25!) i also love the pile jacket with the high collar, something about the collar makes a cozy jacket chic (it comes in black too!).

this coat comes in three great colors but i’m partial to the cream version, can’t say no to winter white!

a classic henley is hard to find, so i was excited to see that everlane made one this season in three different shades. also very into the cord jacket in lilac and the quilted coat below. with almost a thousand positive reviews on those boots, i think these boots are a must try and you can’t go wrong with a bow front blouse (in a liberty print!) for fall.

if you’re feeling sad about the transition to fall, shorter/darker days, buy a few sweaters in soft colors like this pale pink one above.

ribbed turtleneck for the winner! cute on its own or under overalls or a dress. and the perfect prairie dress below, love that shade of green.

that’s all folks, enjoy the last bit of summer!
