WHAT A COOL WOMAN
joanie showed me this artist, sheila hicks, and i fell in love. she’s an american contemporary fiber artist, born is 1934. she has created these beautiful texture masterpieces. i would LOVE one of these in my home, wouldn’t you? and how cool is she in those necklaces? love that image.
my personal favorites of hers are the neutral or tonal colored pieces like above or below.
but some of these bright and extravagant installations are pretty impressive too…
i love to see the older photos of her working. she started out making these smaller intricate pieces first and then moved into the larger statements.
with weaving such a big trend right now, it’s clear to see this was a major inspiration. remember our weaving workshops here? that was so fun.
