MY OFFICE MAKEOVER

GG_BRIEMERY_28

we have been in this office for quite some time, but we had our desks setup downstairs. we recently expanded our team and moved up into the loft and decided it needed to be redecorated! the loft has amazing windows & beautiful natural light so i knew i wanted it to function as a workspace but also as a studio for us to shoot blog content in. (ps. make sure you enter to win the big office giveaway too & see this feature over on the glitter guide!)

and after we were all finished…

the first step was to cover the floors. the purplish-pink wood was distracting and limited us quite a bit, so we decided to cover it with canvas. we went to home depot and stocked up and ended up stapling it to the floor. it also made the space much more cozy. (it feels very palm springs ace hotel) it was important to add rugs on top of that so the canvas didn’t get filthy, but it made all the difference in the world to have the floor neutral. for the rugs, we went with layering…we used the west elm moroccan rug as the main rug, and then added a colorful turkish rug by the mini bar & a metallic textured rug under my desk. (they were from a shop called lake in silver lake. you have to check it out if you’re in LA!)

if you’ve seen my home tour, you will notice that there are a lot of elements that carry over into the office design. i love working with white, and adding my fair share of color and graphic elements. plants became such a huge part of my living room, and i really wanted them to be a main focus in this office as well. they just add such a good vibe to a space.

+ shopping credits above: ombre console by the implement, native union gold pop phone, russell+hazel gold stapler, hay mesh notebook, up in the air somewhere paper mache bowls, west elm white trays & organizational boxes, chez renee number 8 ceramic box, vintage lucite boxes, oh snap jen gotch prints on console.

the one thing that was in this space when we moved in was this huge table! i loved the size and structure of it but thought it would look nicer in our space (and more functional for photo shoots) if we added a white acrylic top. it cost about $120, which was way more affordable than finding a whole new desk with those dimensions! the table fits 2 people comfortably and the white top definitely lightened up the room. we then added these shell chairs from our friend yeah rentals for seating.

we are big fans of the west elm white trays to keep our office organized and looking minimal. they are used inside our cabinets and on all of our desks. those copper & brass tin boxes i picked up at muhs home. i love how they are distressed but still add shine to the desk. that white linen box was one of the items i picked up in paris. the plant fit perfectly inside luckily.

+ shopping credits above: oversized gold paper clips from staples, west elm copper string holder, amelia presents washi tape, essential white box used as planter, pei design dotted pencils, copper & brass tin boxes from muhs home.

the mirrored cabinet from ikea is such a great deal and gave us all sorts of storage space. i also love how it makes the space feel a bit bigger. we added striped bins up top for items we don’t need everyday access to.

see that mexican blanket looking planter? well it’s just that. we thought it would be fun to wrap & tuck the blanket (from my cabo trip!) around a tall planter to add a unique touch to the fig tree in the corner. it took 5 minutes and i love how it turned out.

string lights around the space always add a special touch and are perfect for late nights in the office. we order ours here!

+ shopping credits above: west elm white filing cabinet, cafe lights, bright poster from commune design, colorful rug from lake boutique, bkr pink water bottle, container store striped bins, ikea mirrored cabinet.

do you recognize those colorful power cords? we did a DIY post with them last week, check it out here! our white mini bar is from cb2 and there is always champagne inside. i love how clean and simple it is. here’s the credits for some of the trinkets on the desk…

+ shopping credits above: baba souk yellow treasure basket, west elm bubble clock, anthropologie glass coasters, frends gold headphones, up in the air somewhere silver bowl, yeah rentals shell chair, vintage ice bucket.

we don’t spend all day boozin in the office but we are in the process of filling our celebratory cabinet with beverages. these vintage decanters i picked up at shopclass LA are pure perfection. (the ice bucket is an ebay find) we always keep fresh flowers in the office…clementine floral works is our favorite shop to pick up blooms.

that geometric tray was from a stop by a+r and i am in love with it. such a good color combo. we order a lot of take-out food in the office, but that doesn’t mean we can’t use our rose gold flatware to eat with.

it gets blazing hot up in the loft in the summer. luckily we have this copper fan to cool the space down.

+ shopping credits above: hay geometric tray, west elm rose gold flatware, lamps plus copper fan, cb2 mini bar, vintage decanters from shopclass LA.

i love how bold our new ombre console is. you should definitely check out the implement furniture!

and that copper chair from blu dot is a real stunner, right? we showcased it by adding a mirror leaning behind it and a simple cube side table. a few glasses for client meetings were picked up from the totally amazing LA spot, maison midi. colorful glasses galore.

the striped plastic vase is another paris gem i picked up at merci. they are my latest obsession! (smaller versions here online too.)

the last step…add hanging plants, and personal touches (like photo booth pics) around my desk. i went with the white parson’s desk because it’s perfect for what i need.

i can’t tell you how good it feels to have this project done. it took us about 3 months from start to finish but i couldn’t be happier. i am sure we will continue to grow and change (and maybe even outgrow!) this space but for now i am completely content. thanks for checking out our office!
