KARATE KID
i remember thinking a couple of years ago about how badly i wanted a mentor. you know, karate kid and mr. miyagi style? someone to show me the ropes.
now when i look back, i realize how many people in my life have been that to me. and i feel really lucky to have them. we all just need someone to see that spark and help us out. to see our potential.
have you ever had a mentor you really looked up to?
also, i just wanted to say how much it means to me that you guys come find inspiration here. my blog is three years old this month i just realized! happy birthday, blog. it’s really been an amazing, amazing time. -bri

aw! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG. 🙂
you’ve been my mentor over the past year or so, ever since i came to DLF and thought “whoa. now this makes graphic design look fun.” – i’m so thankful for everything you do and share with us.. you’re a design/styling goddess who shook and awoke my creative soul!
happy birthday from Portugal, you are seriously inspiring 🙂 kisses Ana

you’ve got the gift that inspires people all over the world.
Muchas Gracias de Buenos Aires, Argentina
ps: we could use some Blogshop classes over here 😉
congratulations and happy birthday, blog! you’re blog is wonderful and i hope to make it to a blog shop to get some live mentoring. in the mean time, this is one place i continue to be totally inspired by and i thank you for it:)
the blog’s birthday month is my birthday month? I’m feeling doubly inspired now! Congrats, Bri! You’re hard work and talent is seriously refreshing and encouraging! Also, loving that art!
I’m doing school online while still doing my full time job in public relations. That way sometimes I feel a bit left alone in my learning process. Luckily there are blogs like yours that show me what is possible and make me smile every day.
I also have friends (my fiance first of all) who encourage me all the time and give me feedback on my ideas. I love to have those people in my life!
Happy birthday, DesignLoveFest!
And thank you, Bri, for this reminder that I, too, have potential.
Happy birthday blog!
I find both inspiration AND motivation here daily, and honestly because of DesignLoveFest my portfolio website is finally almost done. Thank you!

Aww happy birthday/anniversary to your blog! 🙂
I had a mentor in college (one of my professors) and he was so helpful in facilitating conversations about life and learning and growth. I miss being able to pop into his office and sit down for a nice chat if I’m feeling lost.
Congratulations on three years! I love this space in the blogosphere, and can’t wait to see the greatness that is to come!
The internet is such a cool rad place. I have felt so inspired and mentored by many of the blogs I have come across (yours included of course)! I am so happy to have found DFL this year!
Happy Birthday! I agree with some of the Ladies above. You are definitely my mentor. You brought back my passion for graphic design that had slipped away from me for a while. I actually had a dream last night that I met you and my other mentor, so this post is very crazy to see today. 🙂
big fan! happy b-day!
Happy blogoversary. Mentors are so essential. I”m still kind of searching for mine, but I kind of consider all the blogs that really inspire me a form of a mentor =)

I think it’s great to have a mentor but pull a group of experience from so many people around you and I think it could be just as good. happy b-day bloggy.

Happy Birthday blog! Thanks to you for being my mentor! I come to your wonderful site to get inspiration and advice.
Congratulations! You have accomplished a lot in those 3 years, you should feel proud. 🙂 Happy birthday, DLF!
I remember when YOU were 3, and the cutest little thing ever! Nothing has changed much! : ) XOXOXO Mama
Happy birthday blog! I love coming here for inspiration, for your insight on little topics, and I loved your fashion column (you should do that again!).
One mentor in my life, aside from my mom who will forever mentor me and I look up to, is my Pilates trainer. I just went through this great training and was always amazed how much she could pull us three and bring us to new levels that we couldn’t see as possible. Not only that but her personal life is truly inspiring. Always supports the local farmers, grows her own garden, cans for the winter. It’s just amazing how self sufficient and inspiring she is
No kidding, bri- you have had the biggest impact on my life. I first started reading DLF one year ago and WOW. I’m now enrolled to start a graphic design program in the fall. Everyone thinks i’m crazy for going back to school but I’m looking forward to it thanks to you. You inspire me everyday to reach my potential 🙂
Happy 3rd blog birthday! Love the font today and as for inspiration and mentors, I’ve have many, oddly quite a lot of younger men that have shown me to feel the fear but go for it anyway and much older women that have shown me that it can be done, and kept on being done! But it was nice to have them brought to mind with your post today… 🙂
Congratulations for your blog bday 🙂
i’ve also wanted to have a mentor, but as you said many people we find in life become great inspiration and motivation to move on and become our very best.
I can definitely say you inspire me everyday and i look forward to read your blog every morning.
You’re a mentor(terrific one at that!) whether you know it or not, miss bri 🙂 So happy birthday DLF and happy birthday to you!
xo
seriously! i must have been saying this same thing a couple weeks ago. 🙂 some advice someone gave me (which I did not want to hear) was to write down all the things you want in a mentor and just do that for someone else & you will learn a lot.
beautiful blog, btw! happy birthday to your blog! 🙂
It is nice to know that even people like you are or have been in search of mentorship. I started my jewelry business a year ago and even though I’m so happy to be following my dreams I often feel so alone in this journey (it’s just me for now, so I’m literally alone a lot). I so miss having guidance and being surrounded by people who inspire me and that I can bounce my ideas off of. Thank God for the internet and blogs like yours to get me motivated- thanks! And happy belated blog b-day!
