STYLE / 36

last year i had a very memorable birthday. (here’s the video to prove it) and while that party was wonderful, this year I’m looking forward to just spending the night with close friends and maybe cooking a nice meal at my house for everyone. (got any good potato recipe suggestions?) or hey, i might just wander over to karaoke and get my michael buble on. who knows.
so i won’t be looking for any super fancy frocks this year, but adding some sparkle is bound to happen. i get home from ALT summit on saturday and then it’s time to celebrate the next day. with all this traveling lately, i actually might just wear pajamas.

Does that skirt hold up well? Saw it in the store and some sequins were already falling off…
Which is a shame because ah so pretty.

THIS is an amazing potato recipe, especially if you do tuck basil leave or garlic slivers or such between slices: http://www.curbly.com/users/diy-maven/posts/9209-a-new-way-to-roast-a-potato —And very sharable for a crowd.
Also, I recently came upon a new mashing potato technique that’s changed my life: Slice potatoes 1/2 inch thick, toss slices in EMPTY pot. Sprinkle potatoes with a light layer of kosher salt. Fill pot with just enough water to cover slices; boil; drain when soft. Super time-saver! Then mash up with whatever you like: cheese, buttermilk, sour cream….
Are you a member of the secret capricorn world-domination plot, by chance?

Second of all, these Texas Taters are a tradition in my family, and are super-easy to make and ALWAYS a crowd pleaser! This is pretty much the recipe: http://www.keyingredient.com/recipes/9892236/texas-taters/ although we use crushed corn flakes on top rather than ritz. YUM
