BACK ON THE TRAIN

you know when you move in and you are in decorating high. making lists of rugs and lamps you want, dreaming of how your space will look…and then you get suuuuper lazy.

so that happened. but i am pulling myself out of it! we are shooting my loft for an upcoming issue of rue magazine (by the way did you see the NEW ISSUE that launched today?) so I am getting back on the decorating train, and finishing up our space!

mod pieces sent this really adorable lamp for our entryway (how cool are these yellow ones too!). which sits pretty next to that $20 letter N I picked up at the rosebowl a few weeks ago. i love a nice modern white lamp and this one is no exception. still looking for awesome art for my bedroom, i might frame one of these.

Ooooh, thanks for introducing me to Mod Pieces! I am such a vintage lamp fiend. I always pick them up when I am thrifting. these are all fantastic! I’ll have to feature them on my blog.

I find your couple shots very funny and sweet. For your bedroom I was thinking the picture of your feet would be great. Printed out in big big adhesive (or printed into simple paper and framed into a thick wooden chunky frame) and put over a big free wall it would add a colorful, yet sweet note, without being too mellowing (it’s cute to see sugar pictures, but you could get easily bored of the same one featuring you two guys). Good luck on whatever you do, it should be your art in the end :)

Ps: a quick and always working solution is buying some blank canvas and playing with the paints yourselves, by making basic geometric shapes, like only rounds/triangles/squares, in different sizes and in all hues that you can find in your room.

I don’t think I’m ever finished ‘decorating’. It’s an evolution. I like the idea that you can just keep adding and tweaking and changing things :)

Hah. Then you should come downstairs and see my place. No wait, don’t. It’s a mish-mash oh bits of what it should be, and a whole bunch of crap that needs to get replaced/thrown out/downsized. YAY. This is the big problem with living in ONE ROOM!

I totally know that lazy period that takes over once the reality of doing work on your house trumps the excitement of having things your way. In an effort to combat that we decided to have a little get together at our new place a month after we moved in in order to force us to get all of our projects done. That month was super tiring (I think I got a little over-zealous with the DIYing) but now we have a totally comfortable, out together pad that we love!
