FOOD / 05

ok, so i am officially syrup obsessed. i had a bunch of blueberries that were on their last leg, so i made blueberry syrup. then i remembered having an amazing cocktail that was flavored with rosemary. the taste was so familiar, so delicious, such depth . . . i thought, ” i need to make rosemary syrup, and fast!”

so that’s exactly what i did. if you’re not the cocktail lovin’ type, well . . . you should either rethink your decision, or you can add the syrup to lemonade or ice tea. i’ve named this little concoction rosemary jones. cause you’ll be jonesin’ for more (nerdy, i know, but i couldn’t help myself).

what you’ll need:

for the syrup:
- 2 cups of filtered water
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary

and the rest:
- 1 oz vodka
- juice of one lemon
- club soda
- honey syrup (which you should have left over from the honey badger.  it’s basically honey and water)

what to do:

- first off, you need to make the rosemary syrup.  prepare to impress anyone within a ten mile radius, because not only is rosemary syrup glamorous, but it also smells fantastic.

- bring water and sugar to a slow boil.  reduce heat, add rosemary sprigs and simmer for ten minutes.
- let cool strain out rosemary sprigs and transfer mixture to a clean glass container

then:

- fill a fancy high ball glass with a few ice cubes
- add vodka
- the juice of one lemon
- 1 oz of the rosemary syrup
- and 2 tablespoons (or a very generous splash) of the honey syurp.
note: if you don’t have honey syrup, it’s ok. your drink will still taste amazing.
- stir ingredients and then top off with club soda.

now:

don’t be greedy.  hand that cocktail to a friend and delight in their happiness.  it’s summer and they deserve it!
